S2S

Seattle 2 Spokane (S2S) - July 18th, 2009
S2S is a one-day, ultramarathon endurance ride between Seattle and Spokane, much like the long-running Cannonball ride. The difference is that S2S follows the more difficult route along US Highway 2. It was designed for the successful veterans of Cannonball or other ultra-marathon events who are ready for a sterner challenge. The distance is 284 miles — about the same as the original Cannonball — but the climbs are longer and steeper than those on I-90. Total climbing is above 12,000 feet. The course offers some stretches of incredible scenic beauty and others of utter desolation that are quite a contrast to the I-90 route.

S2S is presented each year by the Redmond Cycling Club, with finish line assistance graciously provided by the Spokane Bicycle Club.

Registration Information
S2S 2009 has a $20 entry fee. This will help cover the costs to the Redmond Cycling Club (primarily for the USCF event permit, USCF insurance and printing and mailing costs). RCC offers no food or mechanical support. RCC will start the ride, provide volunteers to guide the way to I-90, arrange for a sign-in board and a room with a shower at the finish, publish a list of finishers, and have t-shirts for sale.

Due to insurance considerations, it is now necessary to be a club member in order to ride S2S. Annual club membership is $15. To become an RCC member, click here to go to the RCC Membership page for instructions and the registration page.

To register for S2S, you have three options. You can pay in advance with PayPal, mail a check to RCC (click here for the RCC club address), or pay at the start (though paying in advance speeds things up at the start).

You will also need to sign a ride waiver at the start of the ride.
