Riding in Wenatchee

For Early Spring in the Northwest, the weather just doesn’t get any better for a weekend cycling event in Eastern Washington. Looking for dry roads and clear skies? RCC will hold its Annual Wenatchee Sampler Weekend on April 24 & 25th 2010.

April 23rd Friday – Many of us will drive over to Wenatchee on Friday afternoon. The Redmond Cycling Club’s Outstation Headquarters will be at: Best Western Chieftain Inn – 1017 North Wenatchee Ave. Wenatchee, Wa. 98001 – 509-665-8585. For Friday - We’ll have a group dinner at Visconti’s Italian Restaurant – 1737 N. Wenatchee Ave. – 509-662-5013.

April 24th Saturday – We’ll have breakfast at The Chieftain Inn. The Ride starts from The Chieftain Inn at 8am. We’ll ride the Ole Apple Cup Course. Up to the Confluence Bridge crossing the Columbia River and on to the east side and head north to Orando at 14 miles for our first Mini-Mart Stop. Then up to The Beebe Bridge State Park at 42miles for a break. Then cross the bridge to the west side of The Columbia and north to Apple Acres Road climb into The Canyon Country and on up to Lake Chelan and our lunch stop at Subway.

After Lunch we head up along the west side of Lake Chelan to the 25 mile Campground turnoff to The Nuevo Coulee Climb (1.1 Mile) at average 10%. At the summit we’ll take A break as we head into the Alpine Country up top. Down the fast twisters to Hiway 97 (Good Shoulder all the way) and the run to Rocky Reach Dam and the final 10 miles back to Wenatchee. April 25th Sunday, breakfast at The Comfort Inn. We ride at 8am. Heading up Mad Dog Road toward Leavenworth. Some riding along Hiway 97, but wide shoulders, At Peshastin we’ll use the Apple Orchards route. Arriving for coffee and snacks at Starbucks in Leavenworth. On the way back to Wenatchee it’s mostly downhill on Hiway 97 wide shoulders and fast. 55 miles total. Change at the motel and head back home.
